 | Major is a beautiful palomino saddlebred gelding. He is in his late 20s but healthy and sound, just needs a little extra feed to keep his weight up. He was an owner surrender as they were not financially able to care for him any longer. Major has nice manners and gets along well with the other horses. |
 | Cisco is an old sorrel gelding who came into our care as his owner was no longer able to provide the daily care he requires. He is a very nice old gentleman and has fit right in with the other seniors. |
 | **SPONSORED BY SHARON NEARY** Red is an older (mid-late 20's) hanoverian gelding. He is healthy and sound, but he does have a tracheotomy. It doesn't require any special upkeep though he does sound a little strange when he runs, snorts or whinnies! Old Red also has a bladder control issue. |
 | Diamond Dan is an older Arab gelding (29 yrs old in 2011). He was going to go to slaughter and was
rescued by 2 ladies who were then able to arrange to have him brought to the rescue (thank you Kathy & Conny!). Except for needing mash to keep his weight on, he seems to be otherwise healthy and sound, and has quite the attitude! He's already bossing around his other paddock-mates in spite of being the smallest of the bunch. |
 | Shay is a little bay mare we bought at auction a number of years ago. We believe she was badly abused as she is so fearful, even though she is halterbroke. She has a badly placed brand that ended up on her hindquarters beside her tail that may have been part of the source of her fear. |
 | Eclipse is a beautiful young gelding. We purchased him from a horse dealer as a yearling. However he was extremely fearful from the get-go, so we aren't sure what sort of abuse or mis-handling he had. We have, over the last couple of years, been able to have him gelded and we even sent him out to trainer who was able to eventually ride him, but because of Eclipse's fear issues we know he will never be a good riding horse or even a pet, so he'll stay here at the rescue permanently. |
 | Gemma is a little paint mare, born 2004. She was surrendered to us in 2006. She is weak and underdeveloped in her back end, quite shy but a nice girl. She was fostered out for several years and came back winter 2010 as she'd slipped and strained herself; she's pretty well healed up again. Thanks Kate for looking after her so well while you had her, we really appreciate it. |
 | **SPONSORED BY JACKIE ELLIOT & GIGI WOJDYGA** Kiwi is a blind, gorgeous reg. QH filly, born Jan, 2008, and was an owner surrender. We were told that she was born blind. She gets around quite well though she can't be with other dominant horses. She gets along well with both Gemma and Harriet though. She is halterbroke, is very trusting when haltered and leads and trailers well. |

*SPONSORED BY KAREN MIDDLETON (in memory of Brownie & Barbie) Bennie was rescued by our farrier at the time- she purchased him at the auction in 2009. He was extremely underweight, one of the worst cases we'd seen, and had pneumonia. He's older, mid-twenties perhaps, supposed to be well broke (they actually had a saddle on him with 2 kids riding him at the auction). He was also infested with lice. Once his health improved we were able to get his teeth floated. No wonder he was so thin, he only has 4 of the 12 molars he should have in his bottom jaw. He is very sweet and really looks forward to his mash. We believe Bennie suffered a stroke over the winter of 2009-2010. He's gone a bit senile, is deaf as a post and blind in at least one eye. He gets around fine but you can't approach him from his blind side since he doesn't know you're there as he can't hear you either. Like most of the old horses he likes to have a routine and gets upset if things change, so we try to keep everything the same for them. |

Reba (Jim Jim Reba) is a reg. QH mare, came from Washington through the auction where we purchased her in 2008, pregnant as so many of them are. Her foal is Meeko on the adoption page. Reba is very shy, not used to being handled, though she is halterbroke if you can get the halter on her. She is not used to have her feet trimmed either, so they're not in very good shape. She will finally take treats from me and come to me and I can even walk up to her and catch her, sometimes. |

Lucky #2 is bay reg. Arab gelding, born about 1980. He was an owner surrender in 2008. He is well broke and quiet, very friendly. He has a lump at his throat that is a thyroid condition. His teeth were a mess, we've had 3 pulled but they're all really bad and he's had more dental work. He requires a mash diet as the teeth he does have left don't meet up in his mouth. |
 |
Brandy is a pmu mare from Manitoba. She was an owner surrender in 2007 but we had to pay to have her hauled here. She is not sound, isn't too fond of people but she's a lot better to handle than she used to be. |
 |
Russa is an older (30+) Arab mare. She was an owner surrender in 2009. She is very sweet but quite flighty. Her teeth are quite bad and she has trouble keeping weight on. She had some health issues in 2010 that we weren't able to pinpoint but she seems to be doing very well again. |

*SPONSORED BY JACKIE ELLIOT* Pet is a beautiful registered palomino Quarter Horse mare, goes back to Kilobar and King Leo Bar on her sire's side. She was born in 1976! She needs extra care because she doesn't have much left in the way of teeth. In her day she did just about everything, from lessons to parades. |
 |
*SPONSORED BY ANNE ALLISON* Eddie is a huge (18 1/2 hands) draft gelding. He is still young but he has stringhalt and has never been trained for anything (doesn't even pick up his feet). He was given to us in 2009 because of his health issues and he was also very underweight. He is quite the character and not easy to miss!*UPDATE Nov/11 - Turns out Eddie is not only broke to ride, he was a competition horse and ribbon winner! He was born in about 2000 and is even registered. |

Lilly is a longhorn cow. We were assisting another group with a llama rescue in 2009 and came upon Lilly with her hoof stuck through a hubcap, which had almost severed her foot. We were able to get her onto the trailer and bring her to the rescue, where we had to cut the hubcap off her foot and then clean and bandage her leg. Thank you to Noeline our vet and her husband Brent, who came out on short notice to doctor Lilly's leg. |
