Bear Valley Rescue: Horses for Sale

These are horses that need special homes and are listed for sale by their owners. Please contact the seller directly for more information or for photographs. If you have a horse you would like to list, that for some reason needs special care and is not saleable in the normal fashion, please email us the info and we will be glad to list it. (We would also appreciate a small donation if you can afford it, but it is not required). Please let us know if you find a home for it, so we can remove it from the list. Thanks Darlene for suggesting this list, to try to help keep these horses out of the auctions and away from the feedlots. We will also have 'horses wanted' listed when someone has a home to offer. Thanks Melanie, for that suggestion. *Jan/12 - Chicklet is an older paint mare, she is well broke but she can be quite spirited. She is sore and stiff in her front legs, the farrier thinks it might be navicular. Chicklet is sometimes hard to catch and when she is tied up she sometimes shows distress and quivers. She settles right down tho after being talked to and touched. I think she is still good for riding and I would not consider selling her if I lived on the property with her. I would just feel better knowing that she has someone watching over her more than I can. Oh and she absolutly loves potato chips, apples, carrots and of course horse cookies! Price negotiable to good home. Contact Elaine at egpaquette@hotmail.com Click here for picture *Nov/11 - rescue horse looking for a home: Pudgy - 6 yr old bay grade mare. She is a very stocky QH type. She was ridden as a 3 year old but not in the last couple years. She injured a front hoof at some point but it is now growing out. There will be a ridge down her hoof and it will probably always be misshaped. She has had a slight limp off and on but may come sound when her foot finishes growing out. Asking $600 Contact Lorraine - lorraine.munkholm@hotmail.com *Oct/11 - location: Sundre AB, Mystic- approx 8 year old Mare, Appaloosa/Quarter horse. Purchased from auction five years ago. Well broke. approx 14.3 HH Behaviour up to date: Mystic has sensitive ear issues when bridling. She is getting better with touching her ears but still has not gotten over it. Best method for her sensitive ears is massaging her temples till she lowers her head. She wears a 3 split bit, neck reins, foot trained. Has had practice with cattle penning and enjoyed it. Loads on trailer well. Sometimes hard to catch depending on the day, usually have to bribe with cookies. She has gone on a day event trail ride and did very well with different obstacles. Young children ages 9 and up have riden Mystic; She behaves but does not seem to enjoy herself. She will do her job but does not carry her normal high spirited energy. Her rear white hoof has abscessed, hoof is cracked and caved but is improving. *price reduced * $900 OBO to a loving home - please contact me at elizabethpaquette@hotmail.com Click here for picture *Jun/11 - For Sale - 3 year old started gelding, Quarter Horse cross, currently measuring 14,2”, started under saddle, lunges and knows voice commands, leads, trailers, has been ponied through bush and along highway, good with traffic and dogs and great with feet.
