Bear Valley Rescue: About BVR

Bear Valley Rescue was founded in 2004, although we didn't register as a charity until January of 2005. It all started with a trip to a horse feedlot. We went there with our 2 horse trailer and came away with 12 horses (no, they didn't all fit in our trailer!). Since then we have found wonderful homes for many amazing horses. We are located in west-central Alberta, on 40 acres. We are so fortunate to have understanding neighbours that are very generous in helping out, mainly by donating the use of land for pasture for the horses. If we can find homes for these animals, we can go out and save more of them. It is really sad the number of good horses that end up being slaughtered because no one wants them. All our animals are wormed and vaccinated regularly. They are friendly, even if they haven't been worked with much (it's surprising how long it takes to brush 50-odd horses!). We hope you enjoy our site, and we would love to hear comments/feedback from you. We are more than happy to accept any donations of good-quality hay and all donations are used 100% for the benefit of the horses. Because we are a registered charity we are able to issue tax receipts for all donations (charity #861219970RR0001). We are also now incorporated under the Societies Act of Alberta.
